Ambassador Reflections – Client Nelsa Tientore

Community Lodgings has helped me with my education. In elementary school, I was an A and B student. With the academic support of Community Lodgings’ after school program I became a straight A student. At the beginning of the 6th and 7th grade school, I didn’t have all my school supplies. Community Lodgings gave me all the supplies I needed. My favorite Community Lodgings Program is Girl’s Mentoring. In Girl’s Mentoring I built social skills from interacting with other girls, learned about time management, college financial aid, different types of music, identifying fake and real news, and health. In addition, we went on multiple fun trips and did fun activities such as zip-lining, hiking, ice skating, doing zumba, watching movies, having a game night, gardening, and cooking.

In Summer Camp, we learned to cook with a nutritionist on Mondays, went to the pool on Wednesdays, and went on Field Trips on Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we spent the first half of camp doing science and math activities, and arts and crafts of our choice. During the second half, health professionals visited us and educated us on sexual health. In all three of these programs we always received free meals and snacks, which I truly appreciated.
