December News

December was full of activity at Community Lodgings! Here’s some highlights!

On December 6, our girls mentoring group participated in Visit Del Ray’s holiday tree decorating contest. The girls made ornaments that
displayed quotes that are meaningful spoke to them. Luckily, the tree they decorated was in front of Del Ray Pizzaeria so they also enjoyed a pizza dinner, which of course they loved! Our thanks to Dan Mallon from Friends of Guest House and Cate and Laurel at Del Ray Pizzaria.

Student Holiday Store
On December 17 and 18, we held our Student Store in our Learning Center. Students are able to “purchase” items for their family members with their “behavior bucks.” The students were excited to be able to select presents that they knew their family would love. We thank all the individuals and organizations in the community who donated items for the store.

Holiday Party
Our elementary school students had Breakfast with Santa on December 15 at Beverly Hills Community United Methodist Church. 48 students enjoyed crafts, breakfast, story time and pictures with Santa. Many thanks to our volunteers for helping with the children, Beverly Hills
Community United Methodist Church for donating the space and the crafts, Al’s Steak House for cooking the delicious breakfast, and, of course, to
Santa for bringing us holiday cheer!

Christmas Gift Giveaway
On December 20, Avalon Bay Communities and Bishop Ireton High School helped Santa bring joy by providing gifts to parents to give to their children on Christmas morning. We are so grateful for these organizations that help our families to enjoy the holidays!
